What Parliament records

Parliament's employment and earnings category covers paid work and earnings outside an MP's parliamentary salary. A work or employer entry may have separate payment entries attached to it.

How the 2025/26 figure works

This site's Total earnings table adds amounts explicitly marked as received in category 1.1. Payments are assigned to the financial year in which the register says they were received. It is an overview of those payment records, so its figures are the same as the category 1.1 table; do not add the two totals.

What the figure leaves out

It is not an MP's complete income. Parliamentary salary, payments outside the available compared register records, expected payments, and stated values of ongoing work agreements are not added. A parent employment entry is not a second payment.

Only records available in complete compared register editions are included. Registration does not imply wrongdoing.
